Registering to the Academic Semester

  • The student has to register at the beginning of each each Academic Semester. The registration process is online through the registration system OBIKAS. If you are a newcomer, please follow this tutorial.
  • There are three academic terms (Fall, Spring and Summer). Summer term is not a mandatory academic semester, you may register only if you want to take a course, albeit with an higher tuition rate per credit.
  • The time-spans for the MS and PhD programs are four and eight academic semesters, respectively. It can be extended to six and twelve academic semesters for MS and PhD, respectively. Further extension is not possible. Scientific prep and English prep are not counted.
  • In certain circumstances, the student may have to suspend the graduate program for a semester. A leave of absence can be granted after the student completes the semester registration process and files an e-petition through the OBIKAS. A student can file at most two leave of absence petitions. In case of serious health problems (along with official evidence) or a long-term military service, the student may request the semester leave not to be counted in the official time span of the program.
  • If a student does not register in four successive semesters, then OBIKAS access of the student is disabled until a valid English exam score is submitted to the Registrar's Office.
